How To Make Prawn Chow Mein
This savory and satisfying Chinese stir-fried noodle dish features tender prawns and crunchy vegetables in a delicious sauce.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 250g prawns, peeled and deveined
- 200g chow mein noodles
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1 cup cabbage, shredded
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Spring onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions
-
Cook the chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
-
In a large wok or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
-
Add the prawns to the wok and cook until they turn pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes. Remove them from the wok and set aside.
-
In the same wok, add the red bell pepper, carrot, and cabbage. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
-
In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Pour this sauce over the vegetables in the wok and stir to combine.
-
Add the cooked chow mein noodles and prawns back to the wok. Toss everything together until well coated in the sauce.
-
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
-
Serve the prawn chow mein hot, garnished with chopped spring onions.
