Ingredients

  • 200g mincemeat
  • 250g plain flour
  • 50g cold butter, cubed
  • 25g caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • Icing sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a muffin tin.

  2. In a large bowl, rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the caster sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.

  4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 3mm and cut out circles of pastry to fit your muffin tin.

  5. Spoon a tablespoon of mincemeat into each pastry case.

  6. Cut out festive shapes from the remaining pastry and place on top of the mincemeat.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.

  8. Allow to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
