Five-Spiced Apple and Ginger Crumble

Ingredients
- 8 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- cooking spray
For Crumble Topping:
- 3½ oz unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup almond flakes, can be almond slivers or cashews
- 2 tsp rum, can be whiskey or bourbon
- ½ tsp salt
To Serve:
- 1 scoop ice cream, preferably vanilla-flavored
- 1 tbsp caramel sauce
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 360 degrees F. Grease a baking casserole of your choice with cooking spray.

In a large mixing bowl, add the apples, sugar, ginger, five-spice, and salt. Mix to combine, then pour into your baking casserole.

Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

In the meantime, make the crumble topping. Pour the butter into a mixing bowl.

Add the flour, cashews or almonds, liquor of choice, and salt. Whisk until combined. The texture should appear lumpy and feels like wet sand.

Remove the baking dish from the oven and uncover. Use a wooden spoon to push the fruit down a little. Scatter the crumble topping over the fruit.
