How To Make Gooey Butter Cookies

Make a fresh batch of everyone’s favorite dessert! With these cookie recipes, you can bake all kinds of different sweet treats. Make a classic snack with chocolate chip cookies. Or, switch it up by adding nuts, raisins, and other ingredients to keep things interesting.

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the vanilla extract and egg, and mix until well combined.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

  4. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  5. Bake for 10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  6. Once the cookies have cooled, dust them with powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy!
