  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Nori seaweed, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

  2. In a rice cooker or pot, combine the brown rice and water. Let it soak for 30 minutes.

  3. Cook the rice according to the manufacturer’s instructions for a rice cooker or on the stovetop.

  4. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

  5. When the rice is cooked, let it sit for 5 minutes. Then, drizzle the sauce over the rice and gently mix it in.

  6. Serve the Japanese-style brown rice in bowls, garnished with sesame seeds, green onions, and nori seaweed if desired.
