How To Make Nigella’s Roast Chicken Recipe

This classic roast chicken recipe by Nigella Lawson is juicy, flavorful and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6.

  2. Cut one of the lemons in half and stuff it inside the chicken along with the garlic cloves.

  3. Cut the other lemon and onion into small wedges and place them in the bottom of a roasting pan.

  4. Season the chicken with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.

  5. Place the chicken on top of the wedges in the roasting pan.

  6. Roast the chicken in the oven for 1 hour 20 minutes, or until the juices run clear.

  7. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving.
