How To Make Kings Hawaiian Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Delicious chicken marinated with homemade teriyaki sauce and served with fluffy King’s Hawaiian rolls.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 4 King’s Hawaiian rolls
  • Sliced pineapple, for garnish
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and pineapple juice to make the teriyaki sauce.

  2. Place chicken breasts in a large ziplock bag and pour in the teriyaki sauce. Seal the bag and massage the chicken to coat well. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours.

  3. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Remove chicken from the marinade and discard the excess. Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the middle.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Pour into the remaining marinade and stir to combine. Heat the marinade in a small saucepan over medium heat until thickened, about 5 minutes.

  5. To assemble sandwiches, slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half. Place a chicken breast on each roll, top with teriyaki sauce, sliced pineapple, and chopped green onions. Serve immediately.
