How To Make Buca Di Beppo Lasagna Recipe

Hearty homemade lasagna with savory meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and melted mozzarella.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of Italian sausage
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes (28 oz)
  • 1 can of tomato sauce (8 oz)
  • 2 tsp of dried basil
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of black pepper
  • 10 lasagna noodles
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 container of ricotta cheese (15 oz)
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Cook sausage, onion, and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until sausage is no longer pink. Drain any excess oil.

  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes.

  4. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions.

  5. In a bowl, beat the egg and mix in the ricotta cheese.

  6. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Add a layer of cooked lasagna noodles, then a layer of ricotta mixture, and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used up.

  7. Pour 1/2 cup of water over the top of the lasagna.

  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes.

  9. Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving.
