How To Make Belgian Malted Waffles
This malted waffles recipe adds a slight twist to traditional Belgian waffles. Serve these light, fluffy waffles with your favorite toppings and sauces.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups buttermilk, or sour cream
- ½ cup malted milk powder, (or ½ cup milk powder and 1½ tablespoon malt powder)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1½ tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp salt
- cooking spray
For Serving:
- 1 oz accompaniment, per type of accompaniment (ice cream, whipped cream, or syrup)
Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream or buttermilk, eggs, honey, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until evenly incorporated. Set aside.

In another mixing bowl, combine flour, malted milk powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir to combine.

Fold your wet mixture into your flour mixture until evenly incorporated.

Cover, and set aside your batter in a chilled area. Allow to rest for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat your waffle iron and grease with cooking spray.

Ladle roughly ½ cup batter into your waffle iron and cover. Allow to cook, turning occasionally, until golden brown, roughly 8 to 10 minutes on medium. Repeat until you have used up all your waffle batter.

Serve with your choice of accompaniments.
