  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast


  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm milk and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and melted butter. Mix well to form a soft dough.

  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. Preheat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat.

  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin oval or round shape.

  6. Place the rolled naan on the preheated pan and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles start to form. Flip the naan and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

  7. Remove from the pan and brush with melted butter.

  8. Serve hot with your favorite curry or dip.
