How To Make Easy Naan Bread

A simple and delicious recipe for homemade naan bread that is soft and fluffy.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons oil (plus extra for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.

  2. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  6. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  7. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape them into balls.

  8. Roll out each ball into a naan shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

  9. Place the naan on the hot skillet and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown and puffy.

  10. Brush each naan with oil and keep them warm in a clean kitchen towel until ready to serve.
