How To Make Navy Bean and Ham Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb navy beans, soaked overnight
  • 1 lb smoked ham, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Drain and rinse the soaked navy beans.

  3. In a large pot or Dutch oven, sauté the diced ham until browned.

  4. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, sliced carrots, and sliced celery. Sauté until vegetables are softened.

  5. Add the drained navy beans, chicken broth, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.

  6. Bring to a boil and then transfer to a casserole dish.

  7. Cover and bake for 2 hours or until beans are tender.

  8. Serve hot.
