You\’ll feel like a kid in the carnival again with this beer-battered corn dogs recipe. Savory hotdogs fried in a light batter with a hint of sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup beer
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 5 hotdogs
  • vegetable oil, for deep frying
  • 2 tbsp ketchup, to serve
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise, to serve
  • 2 tbsp mustard, to serve

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, soda and salt.
  2. Using a whisk, combine eggs, milk, and beer in another bowl.
  3. Add to the dry ingredients and whisk until little lumps remain. Transfer to a tall container & keep chilled.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan or deep fryer until it reaches 375 degrees F.
  5. Insert a stick into each hot dog half and dip in batter.
  6. Fry in the oil for 8 to10 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Drain, serve and enjoy.
