Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 4-6 hours
Total: 4-6 hours

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of lean beef (such as top round or sirloin), sliced into thin strips
  • ½ cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if desired).

  2. Add the beef strips to the marinade and toss to coat them evenly. Let the beef marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  3. Preheat the oven to 175°F (80°C) or the lowest setting. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a wire rack.

  4. Arrange the marinated beef strips on the prepared baking sheet or wire rack, making sure they are not touching each other.

  5. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and allow the beef to dry for 4 to 6 hours, or until it becomes dry and chewy. Flip the beef strips halfway through the drying process.

  6. Once the beef jerky is dry, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely. It will continue to harden as it cools.

  7. Store the homemade beef jerky in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy as a protein-packed snack!
