Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 1 hour

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pork tenderloin
  • 4 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, Chinese five spice powder, garlic, and ginger. Mix well.

  2. Place the pork tenderloin in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  3. Preheat the grill or oven to 400°F (200°C).

  4. Remove the pork tenderloin from the marinade and reserve the marinade for later use.

  5. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Sear the pork tenderloin on all sides until browned.

  6. Transfer the pork tenderloin to the grill or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).

  7. While the pork is cooking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  8. Brush the cooked pork tenderloin with the boiled marinade and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until nicely caramelized.

  9. Remove the pork from the grill or oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

  10. Slice the Char Siu into thin strips and serve hot.
