  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery to the bowl and mix well.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and vegetable oil.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  5. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C).

  6. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the preheated air fryer basket.

  7. Cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the hush puppies are golden and crispy.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
