How To Make Honey Barbecue Sauce

Make your favorite grilled dishes more appetizing with this barbecue sauce. It’s tossed with honey, ketchup, and apple cider vinegar for a flavorful sauce.

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 25 minutes
Cool Time: 25 minutes
Total: 1 hour



  • 1white onion,diced, medium
  • 3garlic cloves,roughly chopped
  • ½cupwater
  • 2cupsketchup
  • 1cupapple cider vinegar
  • 1cuphoney
  • 1tspdry mustard powder
  • 1tspkosher salt
  • 1tspfreshly ground black pepper


  1. In a large, shallow saucepan, combine the onion, garlic, and water.

  2. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until the onion is translucent and softened.

  3. Add the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, honey, and mustard powder.

  4. Continue cooking for 20 minutes until the sauce is thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. Remove the pan from the heat.

  6. Using an immersion blender, puree the sauce until smooth.

  7. Let cool completely for 25 minutes.

  8. Serve over steaks, and enjoy!

  • Transfer to a clean airtight container, then store in the refrigerator. The barbecue sauce will keep for up to 4 days.
