How To Make Churros with Chocolate Dipping Sauce

Crispy fried dough coated with cinnamon sugar, served with a rich and creamy chocolate dipping sauce.

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

  • For the churros:
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup sugar, for coating
  • 1 tsp cinnamon, for coating
  • For the chocolate dipping sauce:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. Remove from heat and stir in the flour and cinnamon until the mixture forms a ball.

  3. Heat the oil for frying in a deep fryer or deep skillet to 375°F.

  4. Add the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.

  5. Squeeze 4-6 inch lengths of dough into the hot oil, cutting them off with a pair of scissors.

  6. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  7. Drain on paper towels and immediately roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  8. For the chocolate dipping sauce, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until just boiling.

  9. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips and vanilla extract until smooth.

  10. Serve the hot churros with the warm chocolate dipping sauce.
