  • 1 pound fresh clams
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse clams in cold water and drain.

  2. Chop the clams into small pieces.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together the chopped clams, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and baking powder.

  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.

  5. Drop the mixture by the spoonful into hot oil.

  6. Fry the clam cakes until golden brown on both sides.

  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
