How To Make Cheese Rice

An improvement for your regular minute rice with the flavor of sharp cheddar and enriched with milk and eggs, plus a delicious kick from a bit of paprika.

  • 1 cup rice, cooked, cooled
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

To Serve:

  • ¼ tsp parsley, chopped


  1. Preheat the oven to 360 degrees F and grease a 10-inch baking casserole of your choice.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, salt, and paprika.
  3. Layer the rice at the bottom of your baking casserole, then cover with cheese.
  4. Pour over the egg mixture on top and dot with butter.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes until set and lightly brown.
  6. Garnish with parsley and serve.
