How To Make Shrimp Fra Diavolo with Vermicelli

Each bite of this shrimp fra diavolo is loaded with spicy tomato sauce for a richer meal! It’s also served with tender thin vermicelli for a fuller meal.

Ingredients

  • 2tbspcooking oil
  • 1onion
  • 2garlic cloves
  • cuptomatoes in thick puree,(one 16 oz can), canned, crushed
  • ¼tspred pepper flakes,dried
  • ¼cupwater
  • ¼cupfresh parsley,chopped
  • ¾tspsalt
  • 1lbmedium shrimp
  • ¾lbvermicelli

Instructions

  1. In a large frying pan, heat the oil over moderately low heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes until translucent.

  2. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, 30 seconds longer. Stir in the tomatoes, red-pepper flakes, water, parsley and salt.

  3. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Add the shrimp and cook, covered, for about 4 minutes just until the shrimp are pink.

  4. In a large pot of boiling, salted water, cook the vermicelli for about 9 minutes until just done.

  5. Drain the pasta and toss with the tomato sauce and shrimp.

  6. Serve warmm and enjoy!
