Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 60 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb mixed seafood (such as shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (28 oz)
  • 2 cups fish or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Crusty bread, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add the seafood to the pot and cook for a few minutes until it starts to turn opaque.

  3. Pour in the white wine and let it simmer for 2 minutes to cook off the alcohol.

  4. Add the crushed tomatoes and broth to the pot. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Let the soup simmer for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

  5. Stir in the chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve the Zuppa Di Pesce Fra Di Avolo in bowls, with crusty bread on the side.
