How To Make Homemade Hamburger Helper

This homemade version of Hamburger Helper has all the goodness of the boxed cheeseburger macaroni and more. It’s a great weeknight dinner for the family.

Ingredients

  • 1lbground beef
  • ½yellow onion,diced
  • 1clovegarlic,minced
  • 1tbspketchup
  • 1tspyellow mustard
  • 1tspkosher salt
  • ½tspcoarse ground black pepper
  • 2cupselbow macaroni,uncooked
  • cupschicken broth
  • 1cupevaporated milk
  • 2cupscheddar cheese,shredded

Instructions

  1. To a large pot add the ground beef and onion, breaking it apart as it cooks for about 6 to 8 minutes, or until browned.

  2. Add garlic and stir, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add the ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper, macaroni, and broth to the pan. Stir well to combine.

  4. Cover and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, until macaroni is cooked through and tender.

  5. Stir in evaporated milk and cheese until melted.
