How To Make Acieni de Pepe

Acieni de pepe is the Italian term for pepper seeds and refers to small round-shaped pasta as well. In this recipe, they’re cooked with cabbage and tomato.

  • 1pkgwhole wheat acieni de pepe pasta
  • 2tbspolive oil
  • ½sticksweet butter
  • 1smallred onion
  • 4clovegarlic
  • 2tomatoes
  • 1smallhead cabbage
  • cuppine nuts
  • cupchicken stock
  • ¾cupgoat cheese


  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. In a large sauté pan add oil and butter.

  2. Add onions and garlic on high heat and sauté about 5 minutes.

  3. Add rest of vegetables and pine nuts, and cook for 15 minutes on medium to high heat.

  4. Add chicken stock and goat cheese.

  5. Toss pasta in with vegetables and serve.
