How To Make Jamaican Fried Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold margarine or butter
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Cut in the margarine or butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Gradually add water, mixing until a soft dough forms.

  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.

  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each into a small ball.

  6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  7. Flatten each ball of dough with the palm of your hand and carefully place in the hot oil.

  8. Fry the dumplings until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  9. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
