Preparation: 30 minutes
Cooking: 1 hour
Total: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 200g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 cups of plain yogurt
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt for boiling water
  • Turkish red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, eggs, and a pinch of salt. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. In another bowl, mix ground beef or lamb, onion, garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Set aside.

  3. Roll out the dough into a thin sheet and cut into small squares (about 2×2 cm each).

  4. Place a small amount of the meat mixture in the middle of each dough square. Fold it in half diagonally, pressing the edges to seal.

  5. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add the manti and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain well.

  6. In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the cooked manti until they become slightly crispy.

  7. Serve the manti with a dollop of yogurt and drizzle with melted butter. Sprinkle Turkish red pepper flakes on top for an extra kick, if desired.
