How To Make Cast Iron Pan-Seared Steak (Oven-Finished)
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 (1-inch thick) boneless ribeye steaks
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- Optional toppings: blue cheese, sautéed mushrooms
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
Pat dry the steaks and season liberally with salt and pepper on both sides.

Heat a cast iron pan over high heat and add vegetable oil. Let it heat until it begins to smoke.
-
Carefully place the steaks into the hot pan and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms.
-
Add butter, minced garlic, and rosemary to the pan. Baste the steaks with the butter mixture using a spoon.
-
Transfer the cast iron pan to the preheated oven and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes for medium-rare doneness, or until desired level of doneness is achieved.
-
Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
-
Serve the steaks with optional toppings such as blue cheese or sautéed mushrooms.
