Ingredients

  • 200g plain flour
  • 100g butter, cold and cubed
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp instant coffee granules
  • 400g condensed milk
  • 150g dark chocolate
  • 50g walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a square baking dish with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, butter, sugar, and coffee granules until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

  3. Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow it to cool.

  4. In a saucepan, heat the condensed milk over low heat until it thickens and turns golden brown. Pour it over the cooled shortbread base.

  5. Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Pour it over the caramel layer and spread it evenly.

  6. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the chocolate layer. Allow it to cool and set completely before cutting into squares.
