Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- Extra shredded cheddar cheese for topping
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.

Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.

Gradually add the milk, stirring until the dough comes together.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it becomes smooth.

Roll out the dough to a 1/2 inch thickness and use a round cookie cutter to cut out biscuits.

Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.

Brush the tops of the biscuits with the beaten egg and sprinkle with extra shredded cheddar cheese.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown.
