How To Make Moroccan Lamb Meatballs

These flavorful meatballs are made with a combination of lamb, herbs, and spices, and are perfect for a Moroccan-inspired meal.

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 25 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, bread crumbs, onion, garlic, cilantro, parsley, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

  3. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Working in batches, cook the meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.

  4. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  5. Serve the Moroccan lamb meatballs hot with couscous or rice, and garnish with additional fresh cilantro or parsley, if desired.
