How To Make Hoisin Sauce

A savory and slightly sweet Asian sauce that adds depth of flavor to any dish.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, peanut butter, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and Chinese five spice powder.

  2. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the peanut butter is melted and all the ingredients are well combined.

  3. Remove from heat and let cool before transferring to a jar or container.

  4. Serve as a dipping sauce or marinade for meats and vegetables.
