How To Make Fish Pie

Ingredients

  • 500g white fish fillets
  • 500g potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 200g frozen peas
  • 250ml milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with 1 tbsp butter and a splash of milk. Set aside.

  3. In a separate pan, melt 1 tbsp butter and sauté the onion and carrots until softened. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute.

  4. Gradually stir in the milk, whisking constantly. Add the mustard, peas, and fish. Cook until the fish is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

  5. Transfer the fish mixture to a baking dish. Top with the mashed potatoes, spreading them evenly over the fish mixture.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the pie is heated through.

  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
