Cocoa Espresso Trainwreck Smoothie Recipe

Upgrade your morning coffee by trying this absolutely unique espresso smoothie recipe. For those who are new to this blend, it is called a trainwreck because of the seemingly random mix-match of ingredients. However, this drink is anything but random. You’ll be surprised at how well yogurt complements the espresso in this drink.

Don’t worry, you don’t need a year’s experience of working as a barista in order to make this drink. Follow these simple steps and enjoy this espresso smoothie recipe. Feel free to add your preferred ingredients. For instance, we highly recommend adding some marshmallows or chocolate chips as toppings to your drink. Instead of pecans, you can also use pistachios or almonds and even walnuts to have that texture.

This trainwreck smoothie goes well with our Fudge-Top Brownies. Come give it a try and have a wonderful, chocolatey experience!

Frequently Asked Questions

How to make praline syrup?

If you can’t find any praline syrup in the supermarkets, you can make yourself a batch by combining 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of half-and-half, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup pecans, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Bring to a boil in a saucepan ensuring you stir constantly. Remove and cool. If you’re using this, you can skip the pecans used as a garnish and garnish with this praline syrup instead.

Can I make this ahead?

You can make the base and toppings separately ahead. Just store it in an airtight container inside the refrigerator and you can save it for at least a couple of days.
