Ingredients

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • additional cinnamon sticks for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the apple cider, cinnamon stick, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, brown sugar, and orange slices.

  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the cider simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

  4. Remove from heat and strain the cider to remove the spices and orange slices.

  5. Serve hot in mugs, garnished with additional cinnamon sticks if desired.
