  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice in a fine-mesh sieve until the water runs clear.

  2. In a blender, combine the rice, water, cinnamon sticks, sugar, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.

  3. Place a cheesecloth or a fine-mesh sieve over a large bowl and strain the mixture into the bowl, pressing down with the back of a spoon to extract all the liquid.

  4. Discard the rice solids and cinnamon sticks.

  5. Serve the horchata over ice in glasses and enjoy!
