Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry
  • 1 1/4 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a muffin tin.

  2. Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to the package instructions.

  3. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 4-inch circles. Press each circle into the muffin tin.

  4. In a saucepan, heat the milk until it starts to steam. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and flour.

  5. Slowly pour the steaming milk into the sugar and flour mixture, whisking constantly.

  6. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat until it thickens, stirring constantly.

  7. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Slowly pour the thickened milk mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly.

  8. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  9. Pour the custard mixture into the pastry shells, filling them about 3/4 of the way.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the custard is set.

  11. Remove from the oven and let cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  12. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon before serving.
