A wonderful combination tender baked pears with rich and creamy chocolate fudge topping. These are best served warm to allow the chocolate topping to slightly melt and cascade down the fruits. A delightful dessert best shared in pairs.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 ripe pears halved and cored, peeled
  • ½ cup chocolate fudge topping warm

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Combine sugar and water in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.

  3. Simmer 8 to 10 minutes until mixture begins to thicken slightly.

  4. Place pears, cut side down, in a buttered shallow baking dish.
  5. Pour sugar mixture over pears and bake for 10 minutes.

  6. Turn pears and bake another 10 minutes, basting occasionally.
  7. Serve pears warm with chocolate topping.
