How To Make Apple, Cream & Spiced Rye Crumble Pots

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 40 minutes
Total: 60 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup rye flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a saucepan, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft and the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes.

  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  4. In another bowl, mix the rye flour, brown sugar, and butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  5. Divide the cooked apples among 4 individual ramekins. Top each with a layer of whipped cream, then sprinkle the rye crumble over the cream.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crumble is golden brown and crisp.

  7. Serve the apple, cream & spiced rye crumble pots warm or at room temperature.
