Ingredients

  • 8oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions and drain.

  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour.

  4. Gradually pour in milk and whisk until mixture thickens. Stir in heavy cream.

  5. Add garlic powder, cayenne pepper, ground mustard, salt, and black pepper.

  6. Stir in cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese until melted and well combined.

  7. Add cooked macaroni to the cheese mixture and stir well.

  8. Transfer mixture to a baking dish, top with Panko bread crumbs.

  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
