How To Make Furr’s Cafeteria Macaroni and Cheese
A classic comfort food made of cheesy, gooey macaroni.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Cook macaroni according to package instructions, drain and set aside.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.

Gradually stir in milk and cream, whisking constantly until mixture comes to a simmer.

Stir in mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.

Add 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese and stir until melted and combined.

Pour cheese sauce over cooked macaroni and stir to combine.

Pour macaroni and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish.

Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese on top.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
