How To Make Bubba Gump Shrimp Jambalaya Recipe

Spicy, flavorful and loaded with shrimp, this classic Cajun dish is perfect for a family dinner fiesta.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tsp cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped parsley or green onion, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.

  4. Add the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, thyme, cayenne pepper, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 20 minutes.

  5. Add the shrimp and cook for 5-6 minutes, until cooked through.

  6. Fold in cooked rice and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Remove the bay leaf and garnish with chopped parsley or green onion before serving.
