Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Dipping Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp horseradish
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. This will be your dry mixture.

  2. In a separate bowl, pour buttermilk. This will be your wet mixture.

  3. Dip each shrimp in the wet mixture, then coat in the dry mixture. Place the coated shrimp on a plate.

  4. In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F.

  5. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  6. For the dipping sauce, whisk together all the ingredients in a small bowl.

  7. Serve the shrimp hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
