Ingredients
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup beer
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 5 hotdogs
- vegetable oil, for deep frying
- 2 tbsp ketchup, to serve
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise, to serve
- 2 tbsp mustard, to serve
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, soda and salt.
- Using a whisk, combine eggs, milk, and beer in another bowl.
- Add to the dry ingredients and whisk until little lumps remain. Transfer to a tall container & keep chilled.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or deep fryer until it reaches 375 degrees F.
- Insert a stick into each hot dog half and dip in batter.
- Fry in the oil for 8 to10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Drain, serve and enjoy.
