  • ½cupnopales,(mexican cactus), diced
  • 1largeripe avocado,halved and pitted
  • ½lime,juiced
  • 1tbspolive oil
  • salt to taste
  • 1plum tomato,seeded and chopped
  • 1fresh jalapeno pepper,seeded, deveined, and minced, or to taste
  • 4sprigsfresh cilantro,chopped


  1. Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add nopales and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft. Let cool.

  2. Mash avocado in a bowl with lime juice, olive oil, and salt. Stir in tomato, jalapeno, cilantro, and cooked nopales.
