Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 can (14 ounces) of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup of whole milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a small saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown and caramelizes.
-
Immediately pour the caramelized sugar into a flan mold or individual ramekins, swirling to evenly coat the bottom.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
-
Pour the egg mixture over the caramelized sugar in the flan mold or ramekins.
-
Place the flan mold or ramekins in a large baking dish. Fill the baking dish with hot water halfway up the sides of the flan mold or ramekins.
-
Carefully transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the center of the flan is set but still slightly jiggly.
-
Remove the flan mold or ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature.
-
Once cooled, refrigerate the flan for at least 4 hours or overnight.
-
To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Invert the flan onto a serving plate, allowing the caramel sauce to drizzle over the top.
