Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the sugar and water over medium-high heat until it turns into a golden caramel. Pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting it to coat the bottom evenly.

  3. In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.

  4. Pour the mixture into the caramel-coated baking dish.

  5. Create a water bath by placing the baking dish into a larger roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with hot water, about halfway up the sides of the baking dish.

  6. Carefully transfer the roasting pan with the baking dish into the preheated oven. Bake for 50 minutes or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.

  7. Remove the baking dish from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to fully set.

  8. To serve, run a thin knife around the edges of the baking dish. Invert the flan onto a serving plate, allowing the caramel to flow over the top.
