Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 2 cups of whole milk
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
-
In a small saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel.
-
Pour the caramel into a 9-inch baking dish, tilting it to evenly coat the bottom. Set aside.
-
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
-
Gently pour the mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
-
Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
-
Carefully transfer the roasting pan to the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
-
Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature.
-
Once cooled, refrigerate the flan for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow it to fully set.
-
To serve, run a knife along the edges of the baking dish to loosen the flan. Place a large plate on top of the baking dish and flip it over to release the flan.
-
Serve chilled and enjoy!
