How To Make Microwave Caramel Sauce
You can make this rich and luscious caramel sauce in the microwave! It takes less than 15 minutes and only needs a few ingredients.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1cupgranulated sugar
- 2tbsplight corn syrup
- 2tbspwater
- ¼tsplemon juice
- ½cupheavy cream,heated
- ½tspvanilla extract
- 1tbspbutter,softened
Instructions
-
Whisk together the sugar, corn syrup, water, and lemon juice in a microwave-safe measuring cup or glass bowl until combined.
-
Microwave on high for 5 to 8 minutes, until the mixture ever so slightly begins to turn a light golden color.
-
Carefully remove the measuring cup from the microwave, then place it on a dry surface.
-
Let it rest untouched for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until the mixture turns a deep amber color.
-
Add in about 1 tablespoon of the heated cream, then immediately whisk to combine. The caramel will bubble furiously, but whisking will keep it from overflowing.
-
Continue adding the cream slowly in small increments until it is all whisked in.
-
Add in the vanilla and butter, then whisk to combine.
-
Serve immediately warm or chilled over favorite desserts, and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- Heat the cream either in the microwave or a separate small saucepan until warm but not boiling.
- Store the sauce in a jar or sealed container and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
