Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dried morel mushrooms
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried mushrooms in hot water for 20 minutes, until softened. Drain and chop.

  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallot and garlic and cook until soft, about 2 minutes.

  3. Add the mushrooms and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add the white wine and cook until reduced by half.

  5. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Serve hot over pasta or steak.
