  • 1 pound of button mushrooms
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms and remove any dirt or debris. Trim the stems if desired.

  2. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  3. Dip each mushroom into the buttermilk, allowing any excess liquid to drip off.

  4. Roll the mushroom in the flour mixture, coating it evenly. Shake off any excess flour.

  5. In a deep frying pan or pot, heat enough vegetable oil to fully submerge the mushrooms.

  6. Carefully add the coated mushrooms to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.

  7. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the mushrooms from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  8. Serve the deep-fried mushrooms hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
